Roots Gallery Exhibition
Coventry's Roots Gallery exhibited a stunning array of Art and Design work from our current and former pupils. The emphasis was on artists or designers who are either looking to study the creative arts once they have left 6th Form or have established successful careers in this area.
Professional and innovative work from current pupils was on display, some still undertaking their degree courses, some now working in professional practice. We were able to bring together the work of painters, architects, photographers, craftspeople, animators and illustrators with the hope of demonstrating to the next generation of aspiring artists the career pathways and opportunities open to them.Sarah Shagolsky Curator of the Mead Gallery at Warwick Arts Centre, Warwick University commented: ' Congratulations on a very successful show and evidence of decades of very successful teaching. The work displayed is inspirational and I am sure those considering a future in a creative field will be further encouraged to pursue this aim once they have viewed the exhibition.’All the department staff were delighted to see the varied pathways that our students had taken. The time spent contacting former pupils and coordinating the displays for the exhibition was very worthwhile and rewarding for all.Miss S Mould, Head of Art
